Fencing in Bendigo — common questions
Colorbond or timber — which is better?
Colorbond is lower maintenance, consistent and good on long boundary runs. Timber suits period frontages and is easier to repair panel by panel. Cost is often closer than people expect, so we usually quote both.
Who pays for a shared boundary fence?
In Victoria the cost of a dividing fence is generally shared between adjoining owners under the Fences Act, but the arrangement is between you and your neighbour. We quote the work; you sort the split. We can provide a written quote suitable for showing a neighbour.
Can you repair a fence instead of replacing it?
Often, yes. If the posts are sound, replacing rails, palings or sheets is far cheaper. If the posts have gone at ground level along the whole run, replacement is usually the better spend.
Do you fence sloping blocks?
Yes. Depending on the fall we either rake the fence to follow the ground or step it in sections. We'll show you what each looks like before you decide.
How long does a standard fence take?
Most residential boundary runs are a two-stage job — posts and concrete first, then sheeting once cured. A typical suburban run is a few days on site, weather permitting.
